Someone recently asked: “Is link building still important for being found online?”
It’s a good question - especially because it came after they were asked to share a link to someone else’s website.
When they checked, they noticed something interesting: the person asking for the backlink hadn’t linked to them first. 🤔
That moment of reflection raised a bigger question: If link building still matters, shouldn’t it go both ways?
I’m not diving into the ever-evolving world of SEO here, but personally, I believe a backlink will always carry some weight - it’s like an “upvote” of confidence in your content.
Anyway, the real question on this post is about mutuality.
Have you ever asked for a backlink and then realised you hadn’t offered one in return?
Do you think link building today still depends on mutual support?

All too often this topic comes up and for good reason - inbound links show the Googles of this world that your content is considered important which in turn can have a positive impact on where your website will turn up in search results.
Key takeaway - if you want a link, show first that you want to work in partnership.
